Hatch Dance’s How to Cultivate Your REM Cycle moves from the stage to the screen in a film created by Andrew Hatling. Capturing and reimagining the original live performance for film, Hatling brings a new perspective to Helen Hatch’s dance theater work, following The Sleeper and The Dreamer through disrupted nights, looping thoughts, and strange inner landscapes. Blending dance, theater, live music, and projection, the film explores the elusive territory between sleep, dreaming, and waking—and what happens when rest becomes impossible.

“Enigmatic, arresting, oddly satisfying and frankly, brilliant.” — View/ReView
