Creatively led by Jon Ferguson (www.wldrness.com) and Helen Hatch (www.hatchdance.com), Paradise combines contemporary dance, improvisation, physical theater, clown, and music to spark moments of joy, relief, and honesty through a journey beyond the shroud of the everyday. Featuring Artemis Brown, Juliana Johnson, Kendall Kramer, Javan Mngrezzo, Ayaka Moriyama, and Genevieve Waterbury, with live original music conceived by Seth Conover and Joseph Strachan and sets by multi-disciplinary artist Ashley Mary.
"What we’re after is hard to talk about and very challenging to capture on stage and keep alive. It’s rare and fleeting and so often much smaller than you think it should be or thought it was going to be - yet no less powerful. It’s hidden and completely alive at the same time - it shimmers like light on water - it’s in every living and natural thing, including ourselves. It doesn’t make demands - it’s there if you want it. It’s in the air between two people - if you’re paying attention and working to discover it. Once you’ve got it, it spreads like wildfire - and that is what we’re hoping for."
